Cooper to close under chief's final rec's
In her final recommendations to the School Board Tuesday afternoon, Seattle School's Superintendent Maria Goodloe-Johnson has proposed to discontinue the Cooper School program and move the Pathfinder Alternative K-8 school into its building.

Rudi Garbelmann spices up Seattle
Refined palates four centuries ago relied on the British and Dutch East India companies to return from the Indonesian Spice Islands with cloves, nutmeg, and other flavors. Now in West Seattle we have Rudi Garbelmann and his Seattle Spice Company. The ambitious 35-year-old who grew up in Skokie, Illinois, found himself in the finance department of Seattle's Starbucks headquarters and has found himself again, trading in cinnamon sticks, green peppercorns and 48 other spices.

Mayor amends city's snow removal practice, adds crews to clean-up
Mayor Greg Nickels announced today that additional private contractors will be hired to speed clean-up of city streets sanded during the winter storm. In addition, Nickels ordered the Seattle Department of Transportation to amend its practice regarding the use of salt on city streets and to improve coordination with King County Metro.

Benefit concert for local man
The Rocksport will host a concert to raise funds for Joe Honan and his family. Honan has been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a usually fatal disease, often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease. There is no known cure.

Three men arrested for 7-Eleven robbery
Police suspect that three men arrested in suspicion of the robbery of a West Seattle 7-Eleven early Dec. 28 may be part of a larger group of armed robbers that have been robbing convenience stores for past month.

Seattle Ski Shuttle will give you a lift
For skiers and snowboarders things are going downhill faster than the economy, thanks to the snowy Northwest. Entrepreneurs Greg and Kara Whittaker of Alki Kayak Tours have capitalized on the snow and those itching to head for the hills. Their new business, Seattle Ski Shuttle, transports passengers via 11-passenger van from both the Fauntleroy Ferry and Seacrest Water Taxi docks to the Crystal Mountain, Snoqualmie Summit, and Alpental slopes.
