Open Says Me

Friday, November 21, 2008

I had to buy a new cell phone

For recently, the one I own

No matter what the time or zone

Had neither ring nor dial tone

So with my Husband Dear in tow

We hoped to buy a phone to go

With numbers big enough that so

I'd need not squint, to read their glow

Our choice, we thought, would be just right

Which though, encased in plastic tight

We still could see, to our delight

Would work just fine, its wrap despite

Its see-through house, which was quite stout

However, seemed to be without

A guide to show the actual route

You take, to get your cell phone out

Though missing an instruction page

I vowed, undaunted I could wage

Sometime before I hit old age

To open this transparent cage

No matter how I pulled or pried

Or what sharp knife or tool I tried

The Vulcan Mind Meld I applied

And still, that damn phone stayed inside

But in the end the deed was done

The castle breeched, the battle won

My scissors were the smoking gun

That made this clear foe come undone

But still, its memory haunts within

Because recycled it has been

It could, like Frankenstein's dark twin

Return to torture me again
