Wish I said it

Friday, November 21, 2008

"Pray for those who don't like change." That is what she said. One black woman sitting among our white congregation.

Each Sunday we have a time for the congregation to mention those in need of prayer, mostly due to illness, always to our armed forces. This day, the Sunday after Barack Obama's stunning election victory, others - including the pastor - talked of the excitement of change, of the historic nature of our first black president.

One lone black woman in a congregation of Caucasians wanted us to pray for those that don't like change.

I wish I had said that.
